The 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 has been updated with Valvetronic, BMW’s throttle-less intake system. It works in conjunction with High Precision Direct Injection and twin turbochargers, nestled on top of the engine, to deliver 445 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. To supply a battery with electrical energy, the generator (alternator) is usually driven using engine power, which requires fuel. With Brake Energy Regeneration, the generator produces electricity when the driver brakes or takes a foot off the accelerator. Kinetic energy that was previously unharnessed is then transformed into electrical energy and fed directly into the battery. This way, additional power is created without unnecessary consumption.
